Current Time Zones Gadget and Mapplet

Time zone maps are nothing new, but this one's a bit different: rather than static zones, these are corrected for Daylight Savings (Summer) Time for the current date. In other words, the time zones shown here change with the seasons, always showing the correct local time, even as various countries change their clocks.

When zoom level permits, I also display a little clock for each zone, in a choice of digital or analog.

Want your own Time Zone Map?

• Add it to your home page
• Overlay it on Google's My Maps
• New! Install it on the sidebar of GMail. Unfortunately, this is a manual process:
  1. In GMail, click the Settings link (at the upper-right), and go to the Labs tab.
  2. In Labs, turn on the Add any gadget by URL feature (currently towards the bottom), and save your changes.
  3. Back in Settings, go to the Gadgets tab.
  4. Copy & paste in the following URL to activate the gadget:

  http://www.daylightmap.com/time/zone_gadget.xml

• Or, get the code for including the gadget on any other web page

* Mac OS X 10.4.3 Tiger (or higher) is required. If you're using Safari, click the download link above. When the widget download is complete, Show Dashboard, click the Plus sign to display the Widget Bar and click the widget's icon in the Widget Bar to open it. If you're using a browser other than Safari, click the download link. When the widget download is complete, unarchive it and place it in /Library/Widgets/ in your home folder. Show Dashboard, click the Plus sign to display the Widget Bar and click the widget's icon in the Widget Bar to open it.
