PolyClock

My first gadget designed specifically for use on GMail, this handy little tool displays the time in multiple zones of your choosing. Easily configured to show the timezones of everybody you e-mail with, it provides a handy reference in your GMail sidebar. Clocks can be renamed and dragged to different positions in the gadget – try it yourself in the live sample at right.

Unfortunately, there's currently no easy mechanism for adding a gadget directly to GMail, as there is in iGoogle. It's a manual process. Here are the required steps:

  1. In GMail, click the Settings link (at the upper-right), and go to the Labs tab.
  2. In Labs, turn on the Add any gadget by URL feature (currently towards the bottom), and save your changes.
  3. Back in Settings, go to the Gadgets tab.
  4. Copy & paste in the following URL to activate the gadget:

http://gad.getpla.net/poly/clock.xml

Of course, PolyClock is still a full-fledged Google gadget, and as such it's also perfectly usable as a lightweight world clock on iGoogle. To get a copy for yourself, just click to add it to your iGoogle home page.
