Hurricane Watcher Gadget
This gadget shows all active tropical weather systems: hurricanes, typhoons, tropical storms, etc. The strongest system is selected by default, but if there's more than one system shown, you can simply click on each name to shift the view there. As usual, the satellite view is fully interactive, supporting dragging and zooming.
You can select your wind speed units (MPH, knots, km/h, or meters/sec) as well as which region(s) of the tropics you want to track. If there are no active systems in your selected area, the gadget will tell you that as well, and shrink nicely out of the way rather than showing you a big blank map.

Background
This gadget uses an RSS feed from Weather Underground to display a localized Google Map, with my own Clouds overlay, for each hurricane.
Although some of my previous efforts are frequently called "mashups" (and have even won awards as such), I consider this my first true mashup. It's built entirely from pre-existing services (WUnderground, DaylightMap's Clouds, GMaps), with essentially no original work on my part, just a bit of JavaScript and CSS in the gadget to glue them together.
