Gadgets
Ah yes, this is what it's all about.
All of the entries below are Google gadgets, meaning they can be added to iGoogle (your personalized Google home page). Except for a couple whose functionality is specific to iGoogle itself, they can also be placed on any other web page for which you can access the HTML source.
PolyClock
My first gadget designed specifically for GMail. Put a compact world clock in the
sidebar of mail.google.com.
The Other Side of the World
If you were to dig a hole directly through the Earth, this gadget shows where you'd come out – so you know what to pack!
Daylight Map
An interactive map showing which areas of the Earth are currently in daylight, and which are in darkness. The night-side satellite view also includes city lights as seen from orbit.
This was my first gadget, and is still the most popular, with over thirteen million pageviews per month and growing.
Earth at Night
Global map of city lights - like DaylightMap without the daylight!
Clouds
An interactive satellite view of global cloud cover, updated every hour. Zoom in to see your own weather from above!
Hurricane Watcher
Interactive satellite view of any current tropical cyclone.
This gadget utilizes the same cloud layer as the previous one, and so this view is also updated hourly here. It's combined with a latest-update feed from Weather Underground for storm-center location and maximum wind speed.
iGoogle Theme Manager
Switch iGoogle themes easily and keep custom themes between sessions. Developers can also disable caching to ease theme debugging.
Instant Domain Search
A Gadget wrapper for InstantDomainSearch.com. If you haven't tried this great service, you absolutely need to have a go. There's no better tool for finding available domain names - it's so good, it makes it fun.
This is the official, authorized InstantDomainSearch gadget (though gad.getpla.net is unaffiliated).
Moon Phase
The current phase of the moon, updated hourly, in a gadget for your web page. That pretty much covers it.
It's 5:00 Somewhere!
Had enough of the work day? This fun little gadget will tell you where in the world it's already quitting time – and time for a bit of refreshment, perhaps!
Street View
Google Maps' interactive street-level panoramas, ready to embed in any web page.
Google Earth Viewer [BETA]
Any Google Earth layer (KML file) on the Internet can be shown in a gadget.
Before this gadget is out of beta, I plan for it to also support uploaded files from your own computer, so stay tuned!
