Clouds Gadget and Mapplet
See your own weather from above! This gadget/mapplet displays a mosaic of satellite cloud images updated hourly (though the images themselves may occasionally be up to 6 hours old, see below). Optionally, it can also overlay my signature day & night display.
The cloud imagery itself comes from the following sources; when one isn't available, my server drops back to the next one.
- Google Earth's Weather layer, sourced from the US Naval Research Lab (updated hourly)
- NASA's Earth Science Office (global imagery updated every 6 hours)
- xplanet's cloud layer (updated every 3 hours)
